In 1936 John Simchak founded Passaic Leather. The original location was in Passaic, New Jersey. The company first began as a wholesale leather outerwear manufacturer With the changing times and the rapid change of leather styling, purchasing, and selling retail was more profitable than manufacturing and selling wholesale. In 1967 Mr. Simchak's daughter, Joyce, and his son-in-law, Benedict Focarino, took over management of the Passaic store and expanded to Garfield, New Jersey. In 1978 another expansion took place with the creation of a third store in Bergenfield, New Jersey. The company still maintains the manufacturing facilities at the Passaic location and are currently manufacturing police leather coats and motorcycle jackets for various individuals and law enforcement agencies. In addition, men's, women's, and children's leather garments will be manufactured upon request. Mr. and Mrs. Focarino, along with their two sons, Allan and Gregory, are presently managing all three locations. |
